Description
Alprazolam is a triazolobenzodiazepine compound with antianxiety and sedative-hypnotic actions, that is efficacious in the treatment of panic disorders, with or without agoraphobia, and in generalized anxiety disorders. (From AMA Drug Evaluations Annual, 1994, p238)
It affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with anxiety.
Alprazolam is used for the management of anxiety disorder or the short-term relief of symptoms of anxiety caused by depression and anxiety, for the treatment of panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia.
Alprazolam may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

I have been taking this drug for seven years. I cannot tell you how much it has helped me; have had anxiety since i was 15; this drug has been a blessing to me. I take 1mg/day as my Dr. said. There are no side effects. It also helps my fibromyalgia! Yeah it may be habit forming, but i had rather take the drug than suffer for not taking it at all. I would never take more than the Dr. says.

I use this to treat anxiety while traveling long distances or going somewhere there are a lot of people. I just take one when I feel like I am going to feel anxiety and it works really great! I only take when I need it so a 30 day supply can last quite a while. I don’t feel like it is habit forming if you only take as you need it. It has helped me get my social life back!
